JULY 13 ANOTHER DAY AT THE U OF A HOSPITAL

Travis began the day with O2 again but was looking brighter according to his Dad - he usually takes the early shift. The doctor came in and expressed concern regarding his arm with the picc line as it is still swollen. We are still awaiting the CT scan which was to be done on the weekend and there was no talk of discharge day today - we need to just take it a day at a time. They are continuing to try to fine-tune some of his many meds.

He did say today that he is dealing with less pain and we continue to see an increase in his appetite and less confusion. He spent more time in physio today doing the treadmill and other leg exercises. He was very tired afterwards but he did give a smile. OT then spent time doing relaxation and upper body exercises which he appreciated. His Mom & I thought he was more chatty this afternoon and he spent some time imitating/razing us which we took to be a good sign. I felt he was more relaxed when we left tonight.

Thank you all so much for all your support in so many ways. We know there will be more bumps along the way but I thank the Lord for the place he is now versus days ago.

  1. So glad to hear that you are starting to feel better bit by bit. Wow...what a crazy, amazing road you are on! Auntie Reenie and Uncle Bruce just got to Vernon tonight, so I will be sure to show them this site so they can see the "new" you! We are all very excited for you. Lots of love...Tammy Derowin and the Derowin "crew"

  3. Hi Travis So good to hear that you had a better day yesterday, hopefully today will be even better, and that they will find out what is causing the swelling in your arm. My prayer for you today is that God will not only strengthen you in body but also in spirit, so that you can celebrate every good moment you have. Being able to do so will help in the healing process. I am so thankful that some of the pain has subsided, constant pain can cause a person to feel like they are going mad at times.
Please be well and as always my prayers are with you and your family colleen g

  9. Hey Travis, Just wanted to let you know that I will be thinking of you every morning that I indulge in a cup of coffee. I brushed my teeth VERY well when I left the house today--okay, now I'll be thinking of you when I drink coffee AND brush my teeth...AND brush the kids' teeth. GGGGRRRRrrrr. Maybe I need to give up coffee and take up chewing gum.
    Love ya!
