WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2009 HANGING IN THERE

The picture has remained largely unchanged today from yesterday. There have been some answers regarding the infection - it is in the bloodstream. He continues on heavy pain medications, making him too sleepy to do effective walking.

On the positive side, he ate better today, had a few minutes downstairs at physio, and had some relief ... his first shower.

Thankyou for staying with us on this very unsettling journey with Travis. As you can imagine, it weighs heavily upon his family. With each new day, we long to be able to communicate news that is more positive. In the meantime, we wait, and support Travis as best we can.

  1. Hi Travis and family...so sorry you are having the anxiety our family knows all too well, having been through a setback 3 months after transplant...in fact it was on our discharge ct scan that Donovan's rare fungus was found! That bug cost us 6 wks hospitalization, more time than postop recovery!!! so frustrating, but the journey was well-worth the life Donovan now has, and Travis, you will get there! Our prayers are with you...that the meds will take effect, that the pain will subside, and that the new lungs will remain in pristine condition! A day at a time, an hour at a time, a minute at a time, it will get better! Courage to all of you...and Travis we look forward to eventully hearing from you on this blog.

  2. Hi Travis, Cathie and Team:

I almost decided not to post anything because it's hard to find anything very helpful to say. But I at least wanted you all to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have faith in your strength and determination and in the dedication of your doctors to get you past these setbacks. I looking forward to the photos of Travis smiling again and zipping around his laps.
Love Janet, Brian, Vanessa and Emily

  3. Travis, I have not had the pleasure of meeting you, but am blessed to be a friend of your mom's. Please know that even those of us that have not had a chance to get to know you are fighting and praying, right along beside you.
    Godspeed, Mimi
