SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2009 THE DOCTOR SPEAKS
Arriving this morning on 3G2, Room 10, we found Travis sitting in a chair, dozing off. He had a poor night, very little sleep, and was somewhat disoriented. Sensing his spirits down, he couldn't put into words how he was feeling, or what he needed. Another antibiotic had been added yesterday.
However, the doctor arrived with encouraging news - this morning's xray showed improvement - the first time we've heard this. He reassured everyone that what Travis is going through is to be expected, quite normal for this stage in this kind of journey. "Travis is doing well".
Visitors this morning were Bryan and Uncle Mark. During this time, Bryan "sprinted" two laps around the unit with Travis - vital to his recuperation.

Hi Travis....Mike & I are so glad to hear & see that you are doing great! Your tomato plant is doing well in our backyard, keeping company with our three small ones! We had some rain last night which was much needed. It is great to be able to follow your progress and know that you are doing well. Mike & Sally
ReplyDeleteYeah Travis!! Glad to hear the doc is happy with your progress. I know it must be frustrating to be in pain and so exhausted, but keep going! Every lap is closer to getting outta there!! I'd come do a lap with you if I lived closer...you'd probably beat me...Levi says I'm a slow poke and would never make a good super-hero :(
ReplyDeleteHi Travis, Hi Cathie,
ReplyDeleteTravis we haven't met but I almost feel like we have - I'm an adoring fan of your Mom's and one of her clients. I have heard some of your story and I am just over the moon to hear your news and read these postings. You are a remarkable and courageous human being and I wish you all the strength, patience, love and healing that you will need as you move forward with this process. Cathie, if you need anything please let us know. Marnie Griffiths*
Hi Travis: Pastor Mark caught us all up on your progress this morning in the worship service. I’m so sorry to hear that you have infection, hope they found it early and that it won’t set you back to much. I prayed that God’s angels would minister to you and your family today, as they did for Jesus after His 40 days in the hot desert, may they refresh your spirit, and comfort you. Jesus was weary of His fasting, as I’m sure you guys must be, not only since your surgery but the long road that has brought you to this day. I’m praying that God will not only heal your body but also your mind and soul. This long in pain would get anyone down. There will be a day that the tide will change and each day after that will be noticeably better. At least I hope so, because that was how it went for me, although my surgery was nothing compared to yours. My prayers are with you, please be well. Colleen g
ReplyDeleteHey Travis
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you were able to have this operation. It sounds like the recovery process will be long but hang in there. When I see the pictures of you, I can't believe how well you are looking already. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We'd love to see you when you are back in Calgary. Thanks for keeping us posted on your progress.
