MONDAY, JULY 6, 2009 THE DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES

The difference a day makes! We were so encouraged yesterday, but today...it seemed the bottom fell out. His, was a busy room today with numerous consultations and procedures.

The morning began with chest pain and shaking/tremors. The heart!? - but an ECG said "normal". The transplant doctor came and talked with him, then took his chart for further study. Shortly, the Lab arrived and drew blood. Following them, a nurse arrived to set up an inhaled-antibiotic. Travis said that when he had it before, it caused spasms, so she set up an IV antibiotic.

Before long, the Lab arrived again to draw more blood, followed by an oral antibiotic. However, that dreaded inhaled-antibiotic that was changed in the morning, was given after lunch. Fortunately, there were no spasms. Thus far, there is no word on the type of "bugs" that are causing the infections - waiting for the results of the cultures.

Due to so many medications, he is confused at times, misunderstanding the information given to him. And thus...greater anxiety. He ate little, and communicated little today. However, he managed 4 laps.

As we said earlier, this is quite a change from yesterday. Thankyou to all of you who have Travis and his family in your prayers.

  1. Travis my thoughts and good karma are with you. You have to hang in there and know that the obstacles you are having now all have solutions! Unlike the CF afflicted lungs. Hang in there. It will not be difficult forever. You are a trooper and there is a bad waitress at applebees waiting for us. God speed buddy! Your friend Nicki

  3. Hi Travis I’m so sorry to hear that you have had a set back. Infection is something you know all about devastating just the same. I pray that they get the right antibotic, and you’ll be back on track. Sometimes a antibiotics that works well in the past can cause troubles if used again,. that happened to me once and it was a frightening experience. I really don’t mean to make this all about me, just hoping to maybe alleviate some fears, but I guess that is what the doctors are for. I’m praying for you and you guest and family. Terri is there any thing that I can do to help in any way, just call ok,. My thoughts and prayers are with you be well and god bless

  4. Levi says that when we pray, God tells the doctors how to make people better...so we will pray that the doctors will have divine guidance in your case. Love you lots.
