THURSDAY, JULY 2, 2009 A BANNER DAY...AN EMPTY BED!
It happened...! At 3:00 pm, Travis made his first big step back to Calgary! He left his bed in ICU, and found a new home on the main ward.
The move found him in a double room, then at 7:30 pm, a single room. First visitors to his new room were cousin Bryan, and Donna. Good visit with Bryan about the theories of fractals - the experience of hallucinations.
They disconnected more tubes, as he was moved out of ICU. The move brings anxiety, because the care and monitoring is less. From one nurse for one patient, it is now one nurse for four patients. Another broncoscopy is ordered for tomorrow, and, the results of today`s xray are unknown.
It has been a long six-day journey. From the door of the ICU, the next goal - the main door of the hospital. But, we won`t rush things.

ReplyDeleteHi Travis and all those there loving, caring, praying, and celebrating your every new and exciting achievement with your new lungs and lease on life. I can hardly believe that on Saturday I found myself praying that you would soon get your new lungs and that God would keep you in good health until that day, and that once you got your surgery that God would guide the hands of the surgeons, and that He would bring you to a speedy recovery. Can you imagine my surprise to find out on Sunday that you had your surgery on Friday. Go figure, I hope I'm not late for heaven, God just may have to smile at that to. Well I just got through reading your blog and man oh man what crazy fear must have gone through the hearts of all those watching you being wheeled through those surgery doors. That I think I could come close to imagining just because of being a mother. But what you must of been going through, well I just can't even touch it in my mind, thoughts and feelings.
ReplyDeletePlease know you have been in my prayers and will continue to be, along with you very precious family. Take care, get well and stay away from that hospital Viagra, I hear it has stiff side affects. be well please, colleen grenier
